Handling Euro pallets safely and optimising flexibility
A common problem in warehouses is how best to store goods on non-standard pallets. This was a big issue for global power tool supplier STIHL, which receives stock on Euro pallets. Because all storage locations are fitted with MantaMESH®, it gives STIHL 100% storage system utilisation, enabling stock of all shapes and sizes to be stored efficiently.
Best practice fire safety gets tick of approval
The best practice fire protection system, which teams an ESFR sprinkler system and MantaMESH wire decking with greater than 70% open area, received the tick of approval from STIHL’s insurance representative. The MantaMESH decks are also very strong and comfortably handle even our heaviest loads in the oil store, said STIHL’s Ken Collier.
Wire decking benefits stack up
“Wire decking also lets light filter down through the storage system much better than solid shelving. This makes it easier for our people to see what they are doing, whether they are picking by hand or using a forklift. It is also easier to slide goods on and off and will help to keep the locations much cleaner than solid shelving,” he said.
Improving small parts picking productivity
STIHL carries many small parts. Fast moving items are picked from ground level locations where the shelves are fitted with MantaCLIP® dividers. These enable the pick face to be better organised, aiding product identification and increasing pick rates. “Being adjustable, we can easily change their location any time we want to reorganise the pick face.”
